Al-Kursi is best translated as ‘The Chair’. The term ‘Al-Kursi’ appears only twice in the Holy Quran: one time referring to Prophet Solomon's (Suleyman) seat and at another other time, referring to the Kursi of Allah. The sheer magnitude of Allah’s Kursi is explained by a Quranic verse which says that it is spread over the heavens and the earth. However, like Al-Arsh, one cannot comprehend the reality of the Kursi. It is interpreted as Allah’s power, control, rule, authority, sovereignty etc.
